I have always had a love for performing and creativity. As a kid I was usually singing, writing fictional stories or coming up with some elaborate, make-believe game that would entertain me for hours. I was sort of in the background for the first half of my life, but pageantry truly gave me an outlet for my creative mind and oddly enough led me to sports broadcasting.

Fast forward to 2017; I was crowned the youngest Miss Indiana in history after winning preliminary interview, talent and fitness awards. I was stunned and only remember the moment from a YouTube video. I traveled the state and country as a spokesperson for the Miss America Organization and even took off a semester from Indiana University to focus on my packed appearance schedule.

While at an Indy Eleven soccer game one evening, I sang the National Anthem and couldn't help but notice the media on the sidelines. I thought "wow, what a fun job they must have." When I returned to Bloomington in the spring, I changed my journalism concentration to sports and have been reporting ever since.

I grew up playing all types of sports from dance class to volleyball and varsity high school soccer. My background knowledge plus my love for performing and writing finally came together in one purpose that still sets my soul on fire.

Amidst my self-discovery and journalism career as an IU student, my sports-loving momma Susan was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer and was fighting for her life while I was still learning who I wanted to be in my own life. In December 2020 during my last finals week, my sweet mom went home to Jesus. As a former journalist herself, she is my poetic inspiration and the light that has guided me through my vibrant sports career. I often wear necklaces she gifted me to games so she can come with me in a sense.

A few years later in 2023, I came out of pageant retirement to win Miss Indiana USA following interview and fitness preliminary awards. I competed at Miss USA promoting girl power in sports media while also highlighting the importance of the grief journey that I still struggle with at times. As a kid who didn't get much attention from peers, I would have never believed that I'd one day be full of healthy confidence, public speaking skills and a passion for meeting new friends all over the country. It didn't seem attainable to me, but here we are two state title wins later with seven simultaneous broadcasting jobs.

My love for broadcasting has continued to grow over the years. I find myself in new roles every season and somehow seem to juggle it all amongst my bustling schedule. Emceeing in front of thousands at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, pit reporting sprint car crown jewel races at one of the most iconic dirt tracks in the country and interviewing Indians/Pirates players in the dugout never gets exhausting to me as I feed off of the entertainment and stories that sports bring to life.

While I wear many hats in the sports world, or perhaps crowns, I'm still most content with who I am as just Haley. I'm a proud veteran's daughter, younger sister and friend to many as I truly am a chatterbox and could talk to a brick wall.

I love my Native American heritage, tabby cat Prince Henry, my hot pink license plate with my name on it so I can find my car in packed stadium parking lots and attending Sunday church services to recharge.

No matter what microphone I'm holding or who I'm speaking to, I always try to lead with integrity, compassion and with the Lord's guidance as I continue to level up in the sports world.

This is just the beginning, friends!
